Many third world countries around the globe still follow the traditional religious ways of living. Nowadays, this ideologies are irrelevant and brutal to our present and shouldn’t be enforced in our institutional nor social systems. It creates toxic environments and views that not only oppresses women but also men. It gives people legitimacy to hate or try to change anyone that challenges their conservative views. It made problems such as sexism, toxic masculinity and homophobia.

Sexism is basically the perception that one sex is more desirable or superior than another. It places limitations on how a person should act or achieve based on their gender. . It serves to perpetuate hegemony or male dominance by the citizens and organizations which oppress women and girls based on sex or gender, both intellectual and material activities. The modes of economic inequality and social rule take this injustice. Sexual behavior, conditions, and behaviors , reinforce social (gender) roles assumptions that are based on one’s biological identity.

Women are not having the right to receive the same opportunities and respect men have. It is well known that women are discriminated against such as, being called derogatory names if they tend to not follow gender roles, are being restricted from doing certain things, and often killed. Those societies create an environment of toxic masculinity for the female gender and even for the LGBTQ existence since sexism and homophobia are always shareable in those nations.

Toxic masculinity is a social construct and ideologies of manhood that glorifies forbearance, power, vigor, and superiority and that is psychologically ill-adapted or detrimental to mental health. It does not see men as humans but mostly fictional characters with lack of emotions, just rage, “differences, verbal or physical abuse, or challenges must be met with fists or other weapons,” (INGOLDSBY, B. B. 1991). There are no micro aggressions . When it comes to misogyny in third world countries, the only level of toxic masculinity is machismo. This behavior also affect the LGBTQ+ community since they challenge the cis-heterosexual norms.

In those places for example if a man is working as hairstylist, model or any other jobs stereotypically for women, they’re automatically labelled as gays and weak. Furthermore, if a woman is into the music industry, cinema, modeling or dancing she’s also labelled a “ whore” or “slut”.

Women and Men who are not tolerating the inequality that it’s been going on for centuries, are fighting it and building a huge resistance on those who still discriminate them. They are awakening the new generations by activism, through protest, advocacy, educating the youth and founding organizations. Only recently, many of the nations are starting to listen to the resistance and are beginning to change the laws against women. This proves that equality will always be a winner when people start to resist the brutality and discrimination.
